From first contact to your loved one arriving home.
Repatriation follows a defined process. We walk you through every step so nothing is unclear, and we stay in contact throughout so you always know what is happening.
The five steps of a SureRest repatriation
Initial coordination
From your first message or call, we understand where your loved one is, where they need to come home to, and what has already been arranged. We explain the next steps plainly and become your single point of contact.
Documentation processing
We support and coordinate the documents required for repatriation to Nigeria, working with the funeral home abroad and the authorities here so the file is complete and correct.
The documents typically required for repatriation to Nigeria include:
- Death certificate
- Embalming certificate
- Free-from-infectious-disease certificate
- Sealing certificate
- Passport of the deceased
- Consular or embassy authorisation
- Airway Bill (AWB)
- Flight and cargo information
We guide you through each document, coordinating with the overseas funeral home so nothing is missed. If you have questions about what is needed, contact us and we will explain.
Airport reception and clearance
Once the Airway Bill is issued and the flight is confirmed, our team receives the remains at the airport and handles cargo clearance and the formalities on arrival in Nigeria.
Local transportation
We arrange dignified transport from the airport to the final destination, whether that is in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo, or beyond on request.
Family and funeral home updates
Throughout the journey we keep the family and any funeral home abroad updated at each stage, so everyone knows what is happening and what comes next.
